The law is a fundamental part of our society, from the rules that govern us to the rights that protect us. With an online Graduate Diploma in Law from the University of Canberra, you can learn the legal fundamentals, advocacy skills and practical problem-solving strategies for a changing world.

Course structure

The Graduate Diploma in Law comprises 8 units – 2 foundation units and 6 electives of your choice. Each unit duration is 7 weeks. We advise a minimum of 15 to 20 hours of online study per week.

Juris Doctor |
24 units | 3 years fast-tracked or 4 years part-time^

Complete the foundation units, all Priestley 11 units, all additional core units, at least 1 of the 3 Research and Internship Stream units and remaining electives to graduate with the Juris Doctor.

Graduate Diploma in Law |
8 units | From 16 months part-time^

Complete two foundational units and six electives of your choice to further extend your expertise across multiple legal disciplines. Exit with a Graduate Diploma or continue studying to complete the Juris Doctor.

Graduate Certificate in Law |
4 units | From 8 months part-time^

Complete two foundational units and two electives to gain essential legal knowledge. Exit with a Graduate Certificate or continue studying to complete the Graduate Diploma or Juris Doctor.
